Police in Passaic NJ Investigate Fatal Shooting
Police officers in Passaic New Jersey are searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting incident on a city street.
The shooting occurred a short time before midnight near 37 Federal Street in Passaic, NJ. Two men, a 23-year-old Passaic NJ resident and a 20-year-old Woodland Park resident, were walking in the area when someone used a firearm to shoot at them.
Passaic police got a 911 call about the violent incident and sent police officers to the area. Paramedics then rushed the two shooting victims to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Tragically, doctors could not save one of the victims; he was pronounced dead at the medical facility. The other victim survived his shooting-related injuries and was later released from the hospital.
The Passaic Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the homicide and trying to identify a suspect. If and when police identify and locate the suspect, that individual would likely be charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
