Paterson NJ Police Investigate Shooting on Street That Ended Month of Reduced Gun Violence in City

Police in Paterson NJ are on the lookout for a person who allegedly used a handgun to shoot a man who was walking on a city street. The violent incident meant that a month of reduced gun violence in Paterson New Jersey had suddenly come to an end.

Before this violent incident, law enforcement in Paterson NJ had not received a report of a shooting in the city for more than 30 days. During this time, there was not a single reported instance of a gun-related shooting or homicide.

The victim was reportedly walking around the intersection of Walnut Street and Wayne Avenue in Paterson New Jersey when someone drove by in a car, stuck a handgun out the window, and fired at least one gunshot. The victim sustained gunshot wounds as a result of the attack. Someone then dialed 911 and alerted the Paterson Police Department, which dispatched police officers to the scene.

The victim was soon taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, where doctors treated him for a gunshot injury to his shoulder. The good news is that doctors later listed the victim stable condition.

Authorities in Paterson NJ are not pleased that the city’s ceasefire period has ended. Law enforcement officials indicated that a recent curfew imposed by Paterson leaders may have something to do with the reduced gun violence on Paterson streets in the past month or so.
