Suspect in Newark NJ Shooting Arrested by FBI

New Jersey Criminal Defense Attorneys Police recently arrested a “most wanted” suspect accused of using a handgun to shoot someone on a Newark New Jersey street.

The violent incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on South 7th Street. The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Newark, reportedly brandished a firearm and then used the weapon to shoot a man walking in the West Ward.

Afterwards, the suspect allegedly ran off and fled the scene on foot.

A Newark NJ cop was on patrol at the time and headed toward the site of the gunshots. He gave chase when the shooter ran off, but the police officer could not catch him.

Newark NJ police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a joint investigation into the shooting and eventually located the suspect. Members of the FBI Fugitive Task Force then placed the suspect under arrest without further incident.

The suspect has been charged with multiple criminal offenses, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The suspect also faces drug crime charges for cocaine possession because arresting officers allegedly found him carrying cocaine.
